I’m very sorry to have to send you this e-mail but we seem to have a problem with the upcoming Skye trips. The company, which are facilitating this trip have informed us that we will be required to pay an additional surcharge for the trip, compared to what we originally budgeted for, due to differing interpretations of the costs which were transmitted to us. While this has never been discussed before, we have been put in a very tricky situation.
We have been told by the company that we will have to pay a portion of this extra charge or the trip will be cancelled. The only way we can keep the trip afloat is for each of you to pay an additional surcharge of 5 pounds.
We have negotiated extensively with the tour company to ensure that the cost passed on to us is the least possible to keep the trip running. Given our limited options and the timing of this bad news, I’m afraid we really can’t see any other way to do this. To say that the committee are less than pleased would be putting it mildly.
We really don’t want to disappoint any of you, especially as you have ensured us a phenomenal year so far but we think it would be unfair to cancel this trip as this is something you have all been looking forward to and we as a committee have worked hard to put together.
For this reason I would ask you all to pay the additional fee of 5 pounds on Friday. This charge will be applied to each weekend’s trip so it is not a burden which falls on any one trip. Your understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated and for our part we will all put in 200 percent to ensure this is best trip we’ve ever had!
We have double-checked with the tour operator to ensure that there will be no more extra charges so the only money you will need is for food, drink and anything which you want to buy for yourself.
