The International Society of the University of Glasgow in partnership with Cafe English are organising a cultural entertaining evening about firework festivals in the UK.
This event is aimed at non-native English speakers who would like to improve their spoken English, become more confident about communicating their ideas using 'practical English' and learn more about Scottish culture.
Fireworks are very popular at this time of the year as featured recently on Bonfire Night, and with the start of the Glasgow Winter Festival on 20th November with fireworks as the Christmas lights are switched on at George Square and before Hogmanay comes, it becomes essential to get a good understanding of these events!
The evening will begin with a warm-up exercise, followed by a quiz (based on fact sheets provided), and moving into a debate in roles. Participants will learn a bit about Scottish culture while having the chance to contribute their own ideas and experiences, and join in a fun, sociable debate on the theme of firework festivals along other English learners.
