Yeah, its getting close to the Christmas holidays and all of the international students are going home. But maybe not aaallll of them. At least not me. And I was wondering: maybe there are some others who have decided to stay in Glasgow for Xmas and maybe we could do something together on Christmas eve? So that we dont need to sit in our room in our accommodation and think about killing ourselves!?
But of course, before any plans whatsoever can be made, I would like to know if there actually are some people staying here who would be interested in having some fun on Christmas.
So please feel free to answer and then we might decide about what to do.
Cheers and a not so stressful rest of the last week of term!
Hey there little German girl (the stupid bit mkes me feel mean to write!)
I would like you to know that Christmas here in Scotland is a big family time and I don't think that anyone should be alone for this period! What are you doing on Christmas day itself? There is no way that you should be alone at this time and if you would like to come and spend some time with a Scottish family over the Christmas period then you should get in touch with me. I'd really feel bad for you to be in this situation!
If anyone else is in the same situation and doesn't really want to be alone just post something here and we can try and arrange some things.
From, the Scottish girl (who thinks that Christmas should be shared)

silverhalo, thats so nice of you that you want to invite me to your family, especially because my plans for christmas actually were to be with my Scottish flatmate's family, which is not going to be possible now.
But I only want to do that, if that really is no problem for you, because I would feel a bit ashamed if I got on the nerves of your family on this special day... So, if you and your family still think it would be alright, then I would love to get in touch with you. Just tell me how I might contact you. And again, thank you very much, that is not something that a lot of people would do!
And lancelot, I think that in the end christmas takes three days and we should definitely find some time to have a drink or a chat or something!
Firstly - Mhairi (silverhalo) must be the nicest person I know!
Secondly if you want to get the word out about whos going to be around I can send an e-mail out to members. Let me know if this sounds like a good idea.
Anders

I am going to post my mobile number here and email address and hope that we can arrange something from there. When would we be thinking of meeting u? Around the 23rd perhaps? Little German Girl, no need to say thanks, Christmas is a family time! (and if not your own family, why not an adoptive one? )
My mobile number is 07717773675 and my email is silverhalo70@hotmail.com Please feel free to contact me on either. 9this is for you all, Jimbo and Lance and anybody else who would like to get together over the vacation period.)
Hope to hear from you soon,
Have a nice weekend,
Mhairi

I have now sent Mhairi an email and maybe it would be the best if everybody who would like to get together with us did the same. Don't get me wrong, I dont want to push the organisation etc away from me, but Mhairi is the one who probably has the least time of us, since she will be with her family for a lot of time, I guess, and she probably knows best what people do around Christmas in Scotland, so it might be the best to put the decision about time etc in her hands.
@Anders: I think my idea about this whole Christmas thing was already mentioned by Meghan in the last newsletter. But if you want to write a second email to the members, why not? As we say in Germany: Doppelt hält besser! --> something like: double-stitched lasts longer :) (You understand German anyway, dont you?)
We have decided to meet tomorrow (Wednesday 22nd) at 9pm (2100) at Central Station. We will meet right in the middle of Central station beside the big Christmas tree. 9you can't miss it trust me!)
So far, Astrid, Jim and Thomas have confired that they will be there, if anyone else wants to come along please feel free to do so. The more the merrier. I also suggest you wrap up warm so maybe we can go look at the lights at George's square and laugh at falling ice skaters before going to a nice warm pub.
Hope to see you all tomorrow,
Goodnight!
Mhairi
