I now have the full details for the highlands trip. The highlands trip is a three day trip and (as the name implies) will cover the highlights of the scottish highlands. The trip takes place on the 19th-21st march and will cost 80-85 (still to be confirmed) pounds including transport, accomadation and breakfast. This MUCH cheaper than any other highlands tour on offer so its definetly worth it. Tickets will be sold on monday 21st March [N.B: I think this is February] from 12pm in the reading room. Be sure to be there early because the last time we had a big trip of this scale it sold out in under an hour. You cannot reserve tickets but if you can't make it to the reading room I don't mind if you send a friend to pay for you. If you want to get a ticket get there early - I'm not joking!
On the first night of the tour you will have the option of staying in oban, fort william or skye and on the second night everyone (up to 180 people) will stay in an authentic scottish castle. The full itinery is below:
OPTION 1 Day One : Glasgow - Oban We leave Glasgow at 9am and head north past Loch Lomond and out to the West Coast via the Arrochar Alps, rest and be thankful and Inveraray, where we'll stop for a spot of lunch. Our home for tonight is the gorgeous coastal town of Oban, famous for it's fishing and as the gateway to the Islands. After checking in to our Hostel on the sea front, the night is yours to explore the town and sample some one of its many seafood restaraunts, café's & pubs. Day Two : Oban - Carbisdale Leaving Oban at 8.30am, we head north for Glencoe, sight of the legendary massacre of the MacDonald's. Here we'll go for a wee walk and tell you all about the history and legend of one of Scotland's most famous Glens. We'll then grab some lunch in Fort William, home of Ben Nevis (Britain's highest mountain) and the film set of movies such as Braveheart and Harry Potter. After lunch it's then off to Loch Ness for a spot of Monster Hunting, before heading north to our very own Highland Castle where a warm welcome and a few ghosts await our arrival. The evening is your to explore the castle's vast grounds and the many wee nooks and crannies hidden within!! Day Three Carbisdale - Glasgow Leaving our magnificent castle bright and early, we first of all drive south to Inverness, capital of the Highlands, and head for Cullodden Moor, the sight of the last major battle to be fought on British soil. After Cullodden we then make our way south, heading back to Glasgow via Aviemore, Pitlochry and Perth, arriving home at approximately 5.30pm.
OPTION 2 Day One : Glasgow - Fort Willam We leave Glasgow at 8.30am and head north past Loch Lomond and up into the highlands. After a bracing walk in the awesome Glencoe, we'll tell you all about the history and legend of one of Scotland's most famous Glens, before heading north to our home for the evening in the magnificent town Fort William, where our cosy wee hostel sits in the shadow of Ben Nevis. The night is yours to relax in the cosy surroundings and in-house bar, or to head into town for some local cuisine and culture!! Day Two : Fort William - Carbisdale After a hearty breakfast, it's off to Loch Ness for a spot of Monster Hunting! Depending on the weather, we may have the chance to go for a picnic in one of Scotland's last remaining areas of Caledonian Forest at Glen Affric, before heading north to our very own Highland Castle where a warm welcome and a few ghosts await our arrival. The evening is yours to explore the castle's vast grounds and the many wee nooks and crannies hidden within!! Day Three Carbisdale- Glasgow Leaving our magnificent castle bright and early, we first of all drive south to Inverness, capital of the Highlands, and head for Cullodden Moor, the sight of the last major battle to be fought on British soil. After Cullodden we then make our way south, heading back to Glasgow via Aviemore, Pitlochry and Perth, arriving home at approximately 5.30pm.

Our home for tonight is the gorgeous fishing village of Kyleakin, where you can explore the magnificent scenery and sample the nighlife in one of the local pubs. The following information is intended for those people going on the Highlands trip. If you are not going please disregard this e-mail.
Firstly - sorry for the lateness in getting back to you all. I have about 40 e- mails in my inbox asking what is going on so heres the deal:
We will meet AT 8.00AM ON SATURDAY 19th MARCH AT THE MAIN GATES OF THE UNIVERSITY ON UNIVERSITY AVENUE. The buses will all LEAVE AT 8.30AM at the very latest. This is very important
YOU MUST BE AT THE MAIN GATES AT 8.00AM ON SATURDAY
If you are late we will leave without you - I have to be very strict about this because if one person is late the bus can get stuck in traffic and it will ruin the day for everyone else. You have all paid for this and you deserve the best we can give so I'm not going to let you down by having to wait for people. I'm personally going to be at 10 hour cheesy pop at the QMU and will be there at 8.00am having had no sleep whatsoever - if I can make it so can you.
OK, glad we got that over with - here is the schedule for the buses.
PLEASE STAY ON THE BUS YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED TO SO THAT WE KNOW WHERE EVERYONE IS!

Most of you will have been given your first choice of trip but about 4 or 5 of you have had to be moved. Finding accomadation for 170 students is not always easy. That said you will have a great time regardless.
Ok - I've given you all the information you need - if you want to know the trip details please see the previous post
We should be back in the early evening on monday 21st - time to be confirmed.
Right thats everything sorted. I will see you all bright and early on saturday. If you need to get in touch before then the best way is by phone - my number is below. Looking forward to seeing you all in a few days
