wow, just came back last night from a trip to Finland-Estonia-Russia... and just can say WOW. I should have learned Russian and would have been perfect!
Carlos, paisano! no worries man, there are about 10 Mexicans in Engineering, so you won't feel alone at all. Glasgow is small and once you get the over the almost-impossible-to-get accent you'll be fine. LEARN TO COOK. Everybody will ask you to cook for them and for me is a great way to share a bit of culture with people. Although people seem to think that fajitas, nachos and chilli-con-carne are real mexican food...
Dieter, no worries either, every year there is a quite good bunch (I should say HUGE) of Germans and Austrians. For unknown reasons most Germans come from Mainz. Oh there used to be quite good parties in Murano street... mmm I missed the one when the police came ehem, ehem.
OK for you people coming to Glasgow... try this and let me know if you get the phrases. Yes, that is the kind of accents you will get on the streets of Glasgow. I AM NOT JOKING. It is a bit offensive, but take it as a cultural experience.
Once you are done with that one, watch Trainspotting 5 times without reading any subtitles and you'll be ready! Remember they speak Glaswegian here, not english.

We are probably living the most exciting decade in Human History
Welcome to the Glasgow University International Society webpage I hope you are both excited about coming to study here and I'm sure you will both really enjoy your time here. (even if the weather isn't the best, it's raining outside as I type this...)
As Edgar already stated there are a huge number of German speaking international students at the university, hope that's okay! You can make them speak English to you anyway :P
The society arranges a number of trips throughout the year including weekends away and general activities such as visiting a local football match. There is a weekly pub night which is a great way to meet other international students and of course some Scottish students like myself who are interested in making sure you enjoy your time here...
If you have any other questions or if you'd just like to chat about life here in Glasgow feel free to add me to your msn or send me an email at silverhalo70@hotmail.com
Enjoy your summer! Mhairi xxx

Hello ! Well, I'm French, and I'm studying Fundamental Physics in fourth year! Cool, my horrible ascent can't be heard when I'm Writting ! Oh, my name is Yannick, and I'm really fond of Calvin & Hobbes as you can see with my avatar ! What could I tell you ... oh yes, I also play the guitar since November.. so I'm not a professional lol, I'm an advance beginner see you !
Nopes. I dont party much am afraid. But out of curiosity, who all went to Favela. If any of you want to arrange something like it on your own let us (the committee members) know and we can put it in the newsletter so that you can get more people along.
As far as CH is concerned, your website seriously needs some images. Here is one as a reference - http://members.shaw.ca/adamhighstead/subjects.html
I am British but have lived in a french-speaking country all my life. I would like to meet other french-speakers coz I miss the language and culture! If there are any other freshers out there who feel the same talk to me! :D
hi there!!!its dani here... just one question.... i know that most of the students live in the west end, so it is easier to organise pubnights there, but not everybody lives there.... i mean i've been dying to come to one of the nights, but i can't since i'm staying in the east end and it is quite difficult (not to mention, quite dangerous) to come at night. could you tell me when and if there are any nights in the town??

Hi everyone! I'm an italian student who'll begin erasmus period from January, but I've seen your society seem to be weel organized, so I just want to find someone who can let me enter in as member. Now I'm here in glasgow till 15th of December searching for an accomodation, but I don't know nothing of the city (and obviously I don't know people too!). My question is: did you have your meeting just on Friday at The Primary or the members are always "on the road" every night into some place or pub? Just to know, elsewhere I think we find each other from January. Bye people
hi there, my name is andrea, i'm from italy and i'm arrived in glasgow 1 month ago... i'm here for erasmus and i study computing science... i need to learn english!
